Small Recipes - Rainbow Chocolate Waffle

Small Recipes - Rainbow Chocolate Waffle

Ingredients

For the Waffle Base:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (for a chocolate base)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup milk (whole or plant-based)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted) or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Rainbow Colors:

  • Gel food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)

For the Topping:

  • Whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Rainbow sprinkles
  • Mini marshmallows (optional)
  • Edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Waffle Batter

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Mix well.

  2. Prepare the Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. Combine:
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 2: Add the Rainbow Colors

  1. Divide the batter evenly into six small bowls.

  2. Add a few drops of gel food coloring to each bowl to create red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple batters.

  3. In the waffle iron, layer the colored batters one at a time (e.g., start with red, then orange, and so on) to create a rainbow effect.

  4. Cook the Waffle:
Heat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with butter or oil. Cook until the waffle is crisp and golden on the outside. Let it cool slightly.

Step 3: Assemble the Rainbow Chocolate Waffle

  1. Place the waffle on a serving plate.
  2. Pipe or spread whipped cream generously over the top.
  3. Drizzle with chocolate syrup for added sweetness.
  4. Sprinkle rainbow sprinkles evenly across the whipped cream.
  5. Garnish with mini marshmallows and edible glitter for a magical finishing touch.

Presentation Tip

  • Serve on a white plate to make the vibrant rainbow colors stand out. Add extra sprinkles and a dollop of whipped cream on the side for added fun.
